The Effutu Municipal Assembly has emerged as the best-performing local authority in the Central Region in the second-half assessment of the 2025 National Sanitation Day (NSD) activities.
Out of the 22 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) assessed, Effutu recorded the highest overall score of 86.8 per cent. Upper Denkyira East placed second, while Ajumako Enyan Essiam ranked last in the evaluation.
Performance records covering the period from July to December 2025 show steady improvement by the Assembly. Effutu scored 83 per cent in July, 85 per cent in August, 90 per cent in September and 95 per cent in October. Although the score dropped to 73 per cent in November, the municipality rebounded strongly with 95 per cent in December.
Speaking to Adom News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Rev. Arthur Mensah, pledged to sustain the momentum and work diligently to maintain Effutu’s leading position.
“We are committed to making Effutu not only the cleanest municipality in the Central Region but also one of the cleanest in Ghana,” he said.
Rev. Mensah commended residents for their active participation in the monthly National Sanitation Day exercises, noting that their consistent turnout has been central to the municipality’s success.
He also praised Environmental Health Officers and sanitation staff for their dedication, describing the achievement as a collective effort.
According to the MCE, the Assembly will continue to intensify sanitation interventions to prevent cholera outbreaks and other sanitation-related diseases, as part of broader efforts to safeguard public health.
Details of the assessment results are presented in the table below.
