South Africa have dropped World Cup stars Katlego Mphela and Teko Modise for the friendly against Kenya in Rustenburg on 9 February.
Both players have been troubled in recent weeks, reportedly skipping training during the domestic Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Midfielder Modise was subsequently transferred from his club Orlando Pirates to Mamelodi Sundowns, where striker Mphela plays.
But the player who led Bafana Bafana's attack during last year's finals has also been absconding, with reports suggesting he has gone on strike in a bid to win a move abroad.
Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane said: "We had to take a good stand and send a strong message that discipline at clubs should be maintained and brought to Bafana Bafana, hence some of the familiar faces are not in this squad.
"We do not encourage behaviour where players miss training or matches for whatever reason, we cannot compromise the integrity of those clubs where those players are contracted by calling the very same players into the national team."
Portsmouth defender Aaron Mokoena will return to captain the side after sitting out the last friendly against the United States.
New Tottenham recruits Bongani Khumalo and Steven Pienaar are also named, along with Leeds forward Davide Somma, who only recently chose to represent the country of his birth.
