A different version of government's policy solution to decongest senior high schools, is being implemented in two elite schools in the Central region.
That policy known as the double track system, splits a class into two streams with one starting while the other waits.
So a General Arts class of say 98 students, will be divided to have a first batch of 46 students known as the Green Track and the other known as the Gold Track.
Green Track have begun the academic year while the Gold Track will replace them on November 8, 2018.
The policy has become necessary because government does not have enough infrastructure to accommodate the huge enrollment rates since it implemented its free SHS policy.
The double track is being implemented in at least 400 out of more than 670 public schools.
But authorities at Wesley Girls SHS and University Practice SHS in Cape Coast, have varied the implementation of the new anti-congestion system,
Instead of splitting a class, the authorities have rather split courses.
At University Practice SHS, Students reading Business and General Arts courses have begun the school year while the students of other programs wait.
At Wesley Girls, Science students are in school with Home Economics students.
Joy News Central regional Correspondent, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko explained, the course pairings were done because they share similar subjects.
For example Home Economics students will study Biology as an elective subject just as much as Science students. Hence a Biology teacher can teach Science students as well as Home Economics.
A senior official said their version has the blessing of the Ghana Education Service.
