Police in Bimbilla have moved to stop a resurgence of factional chieftaincy clashes following concerns over a possible reprisal attack.
There are rumors that as one of the factions prepare to bury a deceased chief, the other faction that lost relatives in an earlier conflict may strike.
A long-standing chieftaincy conflict between the Nakpaa and Andani royal gates has left about 11 people, mostly women and children, dead as well as countless injuries and the destruction of properties.

It is not yet clear which of the two royal gates is being rumoured to be planning the reprisal attack.
Although a curfew has been placed on the Northern Region town, that has not stopped sporadic gun fights between the feuding factions.
On Monday, February 27, 2017, parents refused to send their children to school so that they can prepare to flee the town in the event of a clash, while shops remained closed.
However, Police say a 170-man joint police and military team remains in the town to quell any clashes.
Bimbilla Police Commander, ASP Ben Aniah, told Joy News his men are committed to protecting the peace in the town and has urged residents to go about their activities without fear.
“As I speak now the security forces are on the street enforcing the 6 pm to 6 am curfew and so we want to assure members of the public that the situation isn’t bad,” he told Joy News on Monday.
