Ghana will wear black armbands in the quarter-final match of the Africa Cup of Nations against Tunisia on Sunday in Franceville in memory of the late Madam Sophia Sampson, mother of midfielder Anthony Annan who died on Thursday.
This comes after the Confederation of African Football approved the Ghana Football Association's request to have the Black Stars wear black armbands for the game.
Madam Sophia Sampson passed away in a Cape Coast hospital after a short illness.
The GFA and the players of the Black Stars are keen on the gesture to honour Annan's late mother. The midfielder has chosen to continue in the tournament and will join the family in mourning after the tournament.
