Broadcast journalist Victor Atsu Tamakloe has joined the Joy Sports team at the Multimedia Group.
Atsu Tamakloe is the latest addition to Joy Sports after leaving his role at Asaase Radio, where he worked as Sports Editor.
He brings to Joy Brands a little over a decade worth of experience as a sports journalist in Ghana. He is expected to make all that experience count in further strengthening Joy Sports' position as one of the leading sportainment platforms in Ghana and Africa.
“I am excited to be here. Joy Sports has a storied past and I cannot wait to help continue the tradition of creating value for our audiences and advertisers,’’ says Atsu. “I have great admiration for the team at Joy. Gary, Fent, Muftawu, Sitso, and Dani have quite the reputation and the body of work to back it. And I respect Nathaniel Attoh for being able to sustain excellence for this long.
‘‘Having worked on projects with some of the team members, I know them fairly well and it is nice to finally be on the same team with them.’’
Atsu Tamakloe started his career in sports broadcasting at Melody FM in Takoradi. Since then, he has worked at Radio Maxx, Skyy Power FM, and Asaase Radio.
‘‘Everything I have done in my career has prepared me for this opportunity and I feel ready for it. I am under no illusions about the enormity of the task. But I will put in the work hard and the Lord who has brought me this far will do the rest,’’ the broadcaster says.
Atsu Tamakloe was the presenter for the sports segment on the Asaase Breakfast Show; ‘Sports Now’, and was also the host of Team Talk; a sports review program on Saturdays.
Additionally, he was a co-producer for the current affairs show ‘Townhall Talk’ which was hosted by Professor Kofi Abotsi.
A known name in the journalism space, Atsu Tamakloe is a regular contributor to the Voice of America.
The well-traveled broadcaster hails from Devego in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region.
"We are thrilled to finally have Victor on board the ship and, once again, the commitment of our management to recruit the industry's best talent is great for the team's ambitions," said Gary Al-Smith, Head of Sports at Joy Brands (Myjoyonline, Joy FM, Joy Business, JoyNews, Joy Prime, and Hitz FM).
"In the past year, Victor has been appearing on several of our shows, and the fact that our audiences could not get enough of his rapier sharp analysis and keen eye for unexplored story angles tell us he will be a great fit at Joy Sports. I also urge our audiences to stand by for some fine penmanship from the man, too."
Atsu Tamakloe joins the Joy Sports team just as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations gets in gear, and he can be heard on radio, seen on television and enjoyed on the Multimedia Group's digital media platforms.
