The Chamber for Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Ghana, is urging corporate bodies to diversify initiatives in Environmental Sustainable Governance to ensure that the less marginalised in society also benefit.

According to its Chief Executive, Dr. Patrick Ofori, the Chamber stands ready to invest in all forms of activities to improve living conditions in the society surrounding its operations.

He was speaking after commissioning a renovated hygiene including facility including washrooms for the Dzorwulu Special School in Accra.

The initiative to improve the hygienic conditions of the special school was supported by a member company of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors Ghana, Matrix Gas, to contribute to the Chamber's social investment initiatives.

Before the renovation, the facilities had been in a very deplorable state, exposing students to the risk of disease outbreak in the school.

Speaking to Joy Business after commissioning the facility, the Chief Executive of the Chamber, Dr. Patrick Ofori, called for diversified investments in corporate social initiatives to improve many lives.

“As part of our commitment towards ESG, we have been planting trees and giving out food items as donation, but this year, during our planning stages, we took a different approach since we all operate in the same vicinity with them."

"We decided to provide the facilities to create that impact to provide a safe, cleaner and more hygienic environment for the students here to know that we are there to support them", he explained.

"We use this opportunity to invite other entities. In as much as we talk about diversity, we shouldn’t just look at children with special needs for only the food items to give them during birthdays and Christmas, but also take a keen interest in visiting their dormitories and facilities they are using, so they can have a cleaner and healthier environment”, he added.

The Chief Executive for Matrix Gas, Saeed Ahmed Lakho, believes the renovation will go a long way to help the children practice healthy living.

The Headmaster of the Dzorwulu Special School, Frederick Tetteh expressed appreciation to the Chamber and supporters for the good gesture.

The chamber is hoping to embark on more of such investments in the coming days.
