Berekum Chelsea played out a goalless home draw in the first leg of the second round in the African Champions League.
The dethroned Ghanaian champions were held by Coton Sport of Cameroon at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
Chelsea, who scored five goals in their last continental match at the same venue against Raja Casablanca now have 90 minutes in the return clash in a fortnight's time to determine their fate in competition.
The Ghanaian side are hopeful of getting a goal in Douala after missing out on the chance to take a strong lead in their tie with the 2008 runners-up.
Sixteen teams are in search of a place in the group stage of the competition.
The winners of the second round ties will qualify for the group stage, and will be guaranteed a minimum $400,000, while the losers will be given a second chance in the Confederation Cup.
