Over 1,200 cocoa farmers have benefited from over GHS47,000 worth of premium from consumers of cocoa products.
The farmers were drawn from the Central and Western regions for further training in cocoa framing, after their cocoa produce had been certified by Rainforest Alliance, a British NGO.
The project was undertaken by Agro Eco-Louis Bolk Institute for Rainforest Alliance, in partnership with Armajaro, Ghana.
Regional Manager of Agro Eco, Willem-Albert Toose, has told Luv Business Report the project aims at sustaining the livelihood and interest of cocoa farmers.
Head of Armajaro Cocoa Business, Goran Coleric, says the company will strive to improve the livelihood of farmers to ensure they and their communities reap maximum benefit from the cocoa industry.
He said the best way to improve the lives of farmers is to assist them to efficiently increase annual yield.
He is optimistic the partnership with Agro Eco will grow stronger so more Ghanaian cocoa farmers will benefit.
