The committee set up by Parliament to investigate the anomalies in last year’s district assembly and unit committee elections is proposing the establishment of an Election Fund.
It says such a fund would support electoral activities and avert the budgetary constraints witnessed during previous elections.
The committee was set up in January after 54 MPs petitioned the Speaker to recall the House for an emergency meeting to discuss the problems that bedeviled the elections.
Speaking exclusively to Joy News, the Chairman of Parliament’s Local Government Committee, Dominic Azumah said the proposed fund would facilitate the preparation of future elections.
He said “all resources meant for elections for a particular year should hit the accounts of that fund sis months before any elections can start.”
