A High Court in Accra has ruled in favour of the former Chief Accountant at the Sports Ministry, whose complaints about alleged corruption resulted in the resignation of former Sports Minister Muntaka Mubarak. Mr. Adim Odoom went to court seeking a declaration that his interdiction was unlawful. On Monday the court ruled in his favour asking for Mr Odoom to be reinstated and his full salaries to be paid to him. According to Joy News' Sammy Darko the court, presided over by Justice Novise Aryene, ruled that the President acted unlawfully by interdicting Mr Odoom. It further stated that the President has no power to institute an investigation into the conduct of Mr Odoom. According to the court, the President should have referred the matter to the Civil Service Council. The High Court subsequently directed the National Security to submit a copy of its investigations to the Civil Service Council to enable the body to carry out its own investigations and recommend appropriate sanctions against Mr Odoom. Earlier this year, the President ordered the resignation of Mr Odoom who had written to the Presidency reporting alleged financial impropriety on the part of former Sports Minister Muntaka Mubarak. A National Security investigation ordered by the President however established Mr Odoom was unable to substantiate the allegations he had leveled against the former minister.
