An aspiring Convention People’s Party (CPP) Western Regional youth organizer, has pledged to work assiduously to unite young people within the party if given the nod.
Mr. Eric Seedof Aseidu Simpey said studies indicate that since 1951 political parties that have won national elections obtained 75 per cent of votes from the youth.
The aspirant, who was launching his campaign in Tarkwa for the party’s upcoming congress, debunked the perception by some Ghanaians that the CPP is a party for the aged.
Mr. Simpey said if he becomes successful in his bid he would mobilize the youth in the Western Region and co-ordinate the affairs of CPP supporters in tertiary institutions, to brighten the chances of the party in Election 2012.
He said the CPP dominated the Region in national elections until 1960 but currently the party has lost grip of the area and could boast of only one Parliamentary seat from the Region.
