Bechem United head coach Dan Owusu has cautioned that goal-scoring could be a major challenge for the Black Stars at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
According to him, the early signals of tough competition has made it necessary that the Black Stars perform above the silver winning feat at the last edition in Angola, which recorded a rather low number of goals.
“If you look at the attacking of the black stars, Asamoah Gyan is the only striker who will score a goal and miss many chances”. He told Joy Sports
“Goal scoring in the black stars is a major problem and if nothing is done about it all that we have done will go waste”
So far Ghana has produced only three top scorers since the inception of the cup of nations in 1957. In 1965 for instance, Ben Acheampong and Osei Kofi and Ivorian Eustache Mangle were joint top scorers after scoring three each.
The last time a Ghanaian won it was when, George Alhassan’s four goals helped the Black Stars win the 1982 edition in Libya
