Top-selling Jamaican dancehall artiste Mavado known in real life as David Constantine Brooks is said to storm Ghana this October to headline a grand musical concert.
The concert which will be staged in Accra on October 1, and at a second venue on a later date, is being put together by Fantasy Entertainment in collaboration with Samini Music.
Fantasy Entertainment thrilled Ghanaians to the highly impressive Rick Ross concert that shook the foundations of the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre on December 28, 2010.
Promising a re-enactment of the flair and quality that came with their first event, the Rick Ross concert, both Fantasy Entertainment and Samini Music are stopping at nothing to ensure that they deliver a one-of-its-kind concert come October.
Mavado will headline and share the stage with Ghana’s dancehall king, Samini and they will be backed by an impressive selection of both local and international artistes who will ensure back-to-back performances all night.
The 2006 MOBO award winner for Best African Artiste and 2009 MTV Africa Artiste of the year, Samini has promised to give out his all to make this concert a success.
“This is what I like doing best; exhibiting the real Samini when a big platform presents itself. And playing alongside the undoubted current king of this genre, I can only say you've not seen anything until you see my surprise act on October 1,” Samini said in an interview.
Mavado is famed all over the world for his exceptional mastery of the genre. He was given the prestigious UK MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act.
In April 2010, he starred as a gangster in Drake's song Find Your Love. He has several hits; The Messiah, On the Rock, House Top, So Blessed, The Thump and Wat Dem a Do are just but a few of his big hits.
