The Editor of the Daybreak newspaper has reportedly been arrested and is in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations.
Prince Prah was picked up on Wednesday with no official reasons, at least not yet.
His friend Halifax Ansah Addo a reporter at the Daily Guide Newspaper confirmed the arrest to Joy News, saying his colleague was arrested for his editorial publication which suggested a massive shake-up in the top hierarchy of the Ghana army.
The publication suggested that the Chief of Defence Staff Lt Gen Augustine Blay was on his way out having fallen out with President John Mills.
Halifax Addo expressed disgust over the arrest of his colleague journalist for his editorial publication, especially without the presence of his lawyer.
But the publication has been treated with contempt. The Director of the Public Affairs of the Ghana Military Col Atintande said the Day Break newspaper has no credibility and its content will not be taken seriously.
He touted the achievements of the Chief of Defence Staff, adding they were not bothered by the publications knowing too well the publication was false.
He accused the newspaper of trying to create insecurity in the army.
Government has been quick in disputing the content of the publication.
Head of Communication at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho told Joy News there is not an iota of truth in the publication.
He said Lt Gen Augustine Blay is still at post with no immediate plans of a reshuffle.
He added as and when President Mills decides to make new appointments he will do so in consultation with the Council of State.
He is not aware of the arrest and detention of the editor over the controversial publication.
