Spanish side Getafe have turned down an offer from English side Aston Villa for Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng.
The Premier League slapped in an offer of US$8m for the powerful midfielder which was rejected by the Primera Liga side.
Getafe are expecting a fresh offer from Aston Villa to enable them begin negotiations.
The Spanish club have valued their influential Ghanaian player at US$13m after the midfielder excelled in his 18 months at the club.
Boateng, 28, said: “I want to play in the Premier League.”
The midfielder has become a key player in Ghana’s squad and has attracted attention of English sides following his excellent showing in the friendly against England.
Boateng was named Getafe’s best player last season by the club’s supporters.
