Spanish side Getafe have turned down an offer from English side Aston Villa for Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng. The Premier League slapped in an offer of US$8m for the powerful midfielder which was rejected by the Primera Liga side. Getafe are expecting a fresh offer from Aston Villa to enable them begin negotiations. The Spanish club have valued their influential Ghanaian player at US$13m after the midfielder excelled in his 18 months at the club. Boateng, 28, said: “I want to play in the Premier League.” The midfielder has become a key player in Ghana’s squad and has attracted attention of English sides following his excellent showing in the friendly against England.
