Over three hundred known NPP Assembly Members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) say they have defected to the NDC.

Their main reason for leaving the NPP they say is the inability of the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo to unite members of the party.

"Ever since he assumed the leadership reigns of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has succeeded in reducing a once formidable political force to a laughing stock which is neither capable of wrestling power nor governing this country," a portion of a statement presented at a press conference read.

Among the defectors are a former Assembly Member for Ahwemasi Electoral Erea, Osei Sarfo Kantanka, an NPP polling station Chairman for Atwima Tachiman M/A Primary A School, a former Assembly Member for Kwadaso North Electoral Area, Eric Assibey and some others.

They accused the NPP's 2016 candidate of superintending over high levels of bigotry, intolerance, and discrimination which has never been witnessed in the history of the NPP."

Among their reasons for joining the NDC are some qualities of the 2016 presidential candidate of the NDC, President John Dramani Mahama including tolerance.

They said, "beside his stellar unifying  and accommodating qualities, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has achieved so much as the president of Ghana within the short space of four years in power."

They condemned unreservedly the hooting of President John Dramani Mahama at the Manhyia Palace during the observation of the one week passing of the Asantehemaa Afia Kobi Ampem II.
