The Nsawam District Magistrate Court in the Akwapem South Municipality on Monday sentenced Daniel Kwadjo Appiah, a driver, to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing.
Prosecuting Police Inspector, Alex Cosmos told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Wilberforce Mensah that Appiah and the complainant, Mr Anthony Tamakloe, a teacher, lived in the same house at Suhum.
The Prosecutor said on August 27 last year, Appiah and one Kwame Danso now at large entered the room of Tamakloe through the window and made away with an amount of 560 Ghana Cedis and 97 pesewas.
He said Mr Tamakloe upon entering his room after church service, realized that his room has been ransacked with his window destroyed while his cash of 560 Ghana cedis and 97 pesewas could not be traced.
The Prosecutor said Mr Tamakloe lodged a complaint at the police station and through investigations, Appiah was arrested whilst his accomplish Kwame Danso is on the run.
Passing sentence, Mr Mensah slapped Appiah with a 650 Ghana Cedis fine as compensation for the complainant.
