The Electoral Commission has dismissed media reports suggesting it has rejected proposed colours of the breakaway National Democratic Party (NDP).
The NDP’s colours - black, red and white - are similar to its mother party, the ruling NDC.
A report by the Ghana News Agency had indicated the EC has rejected the colours presented for registration by the yet to be certified NDP, saying it violates the Political Parties Act 574.
But speaking to Joy News, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Commission Christian Owusu Parry said no such decision has been made.
“The commission has given them forms to go and complete and return [them] to the commission. So when they return the forms the commission will then scrutinise the forms and all the accompanying documents needed for the registration of the political parties.
“And so it is then that the commission will take a decision on whether to accept or reject the colours of the party.”
He insisted that “for now, no such decision has been made.”
