About eight school pupils in Amasaman were seriously injured when the roof of their classrooms collapsed on them during a rainstorm Monday morning.
The victims were rushed to the Amasaman Hospital in the Greater Accra Region after they sustained serious injuries.
The eight pupils of the Ofankor NA “one” Primary School were in the classroom with their colleagues when the roof was blown off by the storm and landed on them.
A teacher in the school who wants to be referred to only as Paulina narrated how the incident happened to Joy News, explaining “There was a wind blow and all of the roofs got off from the classroom at Ofankor.
“Some of the children got hurt so we rushed them to the Amasaman Hospital,” she said.
The victims she said were in the ages of six and seven.
In a related development, rain has also completely destroyed a school building in the North Tongu District in the Volta Region.
There were however no casualties in this case. According to the headteacher of Aglo-Babow DA Primary School, Adji-godey Robinson the students were sent home just before the storm.
He told Joy News there is nowhere for the students to study now.
