It was the strong desire to contribute to youth development and empowerment that inspired Nana Akua Afriyie Boadu to move back to Ghana.
After 25 years abroad, the Ghana born Canadian returned home to pursue a lifelong dream of giving back to her motherland.
Nana Akua spent her formative years in Ghana but life took an interesting turn when her family relocated to Canada when she was 12 years old. She considered herself fortunate to migrate to a country with an advanced economy, however life in Canada birthed a passion to return home and contribute her quota to Ghana’s development.
Her exposure to the western world reaffirmed the value of education in societal development. She identified the need for an alternative to tertiary education which enhances the abilities and skillset of the Ghanaian youth.
The 3FE Training Institute was established in 2021 as a result of her passion to equip tomorrow’s entrepreneurs with skills and to offer an alternative to tertiary education which, otherwise, might not be accessible to all.
The Institute currently has 10 fully qualified lecturers and offers courses in Fashion, Cosmetology, Hair Styling, Nails, and Make up. The eight dormitory accommodation on campus which houses students will soon be expanded in and around Kronum Kwapra in Kumasi where it is located. With an accreditation from the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), Nana Akua hopes to expand the Institute’s campuses across other regions in the near future.
What makes the school unique is the skilled tutors who have acquired all the necessary certification and high quality equipment used in delivery of courses.
In addition, the Institute plans to award best graduating students with immediate employment at the institution and other sister companies in their field. 3FE Institute also has a very flexible enrollment and tuition installment payment system which makes the institute accessible to all classes of people.
Nana Akua believes that various governments in the past have helped improve the narrative around vocational training but the negative bias can only be eliminated with continuous education and support from both public and private entities.
As an entrepreneur of a young start up business, she has had her fair share of challenges but the vision for the future fuels her with strength to tackle every challenge. She encourages all entrepreneurs to continue to pursue their dreams of advancing Ghana’s development.
In the next five years, Nana Akua hopes the 3FE Institute will be the reference Vocational and Technical Institute in Ghana with branches across other regions, empowering thousands of future entrepreneurs.
Her supportive family and upbringing have shaped her values and inspired her to be the woman she is today.
