In a significant step toward developing Ghana’s electric vehicle (EV) talent pipeline, EV House LTD, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, hosted an educational and hands-on training session at the Accra Technical Training Center (ATTC).
The event was attended by selected students, staff technicians, and academic leadership, including the Principal of ATTC, Arko Domotey. The highlight of the programme was a special guest presentation by Edward Hightower the founder & CEO of EV House LTD, who led participants through a comprehensive session on the key systems that make up modern electric vehicles and how they differ from traditional petrol or diesel vehicles.
Using EV House’s Geely Geome Panda Mini — the most accessible EV in Ghana — as a real-world teaching tool, Mr. Hightower walked students through the vehicle’s structure and functionality. His session covered the core elements of vehicle architecture, known in the industry as vehicle partitions or major vehicle subsystems. These included the powertrain, chassis, thermal, interior and safety, exterior, body, electrical, and electronics systems.
The use of the Panda Mini allowed students and technicians to see, touch, and interact with the actual components being discussed, bringing theory into clear practical focus. EV House also offers the Geely Riddara RD6 all electric pickup – the most functional EV in Ghana.
As the global automotive industry transitions from internal combustion engines to electric propulsion, the session highlighted the critical role that local institutions like ATTC can play in developing the skilled workforce needed to support this shift. It also emphasized the importance of creating early exposure to EV technology for students and technical staff alike.
"EV House Ltd is committed to supporting the next generation of engineers, technicians, and innovators who will lead Ghana into a cleaner, electric future," said Mr. Edward Hightower. "By bringing the Panda Mini into the workshop, we’re helping bridge the gap between theory and practice."
This training session marks the beginning of what is expected to be a broader and long-term collaboration between EV House LTD and ATTC, with future activities planned, including advanced technical workshops, internships, and curriculum development tailored to electric mobility.
In his remarks, Arko Domotey, Principal of ATTC, expressed his gratitude to EV House LTD for the collaboration and emphasised the importance of exposing students to emerging technologies. “We are proud to host this initiative and grateful for the opportunity to align our training with the future of mobility. Programs like this equip our students with the relevant skills to thrive in the evolving automotive industry,” he said.
Together, EV House LTD and ATTC are paving the way for a sustainable and skilled EV ecosystem in Ghana—driven by education, innovation, and local expertise.
EV House LTD was founded with the vision to develop the market for premium electric cars and pickup trucks in Ghana by focusing on business and government fleets.
