Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has spoken out about inconsistent refereeing on Twitter after an incident in the 2-2 draw against Wigan.
A free-kick from Samir Nasri appeared to hit the hands of James McCarthur in the Wigan penalty area late in the game, but no penalty kick was awarded by referee Lee Probert.
Fabregas was particularly disgruntled with the decision having been penalized by Phil Dowd for exactly the same offence in Arsenal's 3-2 defeat by Tottenham earlier in the season.
He posted on the social networking site: "Whats the diference between this handball & my 1 vs spurs? Referees dont want us to complain abt them but they make life dificult 4 themself."
He followed up the original post with: "Im not complaining at all, im just saying why on the same thing some refs say its a pen and some not. Is it a rule or just what they feel?"
The Spanish midfielder ended his tweets with: “Football is like that so we have to stand up and win saturday. Nite guys!”
Fabregas could come under fire from the FA if they are to take umbrage with his posts.
This latest Twitter footballing faux-pas comes after Newcastle manager Alan Pardew warned Jose Enrique about using the site after the full-back posted news of his exclusion from the Magpies squad.
Arsenal went a goal down early in the first half but managed to bring the score back to 2-1 before having to settle for the draw courtesy of a late own goal from Sebastian Squillaci.
Were the penalty awarded, Arsenal may have come away from the game with all three points, which would have put them level with leaders Manchester United and Manchester City on points.
