Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been named the best manager of the Premier League's 20 seasons.
The awards have been launched by the Premier League to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the competition, and a panel of leading football figures, journalists and commentators decided to award Ferguson with the prestigious accolade.
Ferguson has been involved in every season of the Premier League ever since its inception in 1992, having been in charge at Old Trafford since 1986.
During this spell, he has had unrivalled success - securing the Premier League title on twelve occasions, making him the most successful manager of the modern era. The first title triumph came during the 1992/1993 campaign, the Premier League's first season.
‘Fergie's' success is testament to his bold management, harsh discipline as well as his tactical nous and the manner in which he has kept ahead of the game. He has also managed the likes of Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, David Beckham, Paul Schoes, Ryan Giggs, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have undoubtedly contributed to his success along with many more household names.
Despite city rivals Manchester City claiming the 2011/12 league title last weekend, Ferguson will sure to re-build yet again and produce a side that can compete with his rivals’ spending power.
The likes of Arsene Wenger and José Mourinho would have also been in contention for this award, but it would have been immensely difficult for any boss to better Ferguson's spectacular achievements.
