Tragedy struck Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District on Monday night when a 70 year-old man was burnt to death by fire that swept through a 11-bedroom house.
Kwaku Agyare, who is said to be suffering from stroke, could not escape as the other occupants fled the blaze.
His charred body had since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy.
The fire, which started at about 23:00 hours, completely leveled to the ground the entire building, ravaging property running into thousands of Ghana cedis.
No item could be saved by the occupants and a combined team of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel from Ejisu and Nkawkaw had to battle for several hours to extinguish it.
An eye witness told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it started from the room of the deceased and quickly spread to the other rooms as the helpless residents tried in vain to fight it.
The cause is yet to be established but the people suspect an electrical fault.
Power supply to the house, they claimed, had earlier in the day been disconnected for non-payment of electricity bills.
