Two houses were set ablaze when fire swept through them at Suhum Gariba Zongo at the weekend.
Four people who sustained injuries were treated and discharged at the Suhum Government Hospital.
Narrating the story, Madam Ramatu Ossumanu, owner of one of the house said property estimated over 300 million cedis and cash of 20 million cedis were destroyed by the fire and that the fire also rendered 22 people homeless.
She said the fire started from one of the tenants' room at midnight and the whole house was engulfed in smoke, making breathing and visibility difficult before the fire spread to the nearby house and burnt it down.
She said a team of fire service crew from Suhum, Koforidua and Nsawam took more than four hours to bring the fire under control.
Madam Emmadiatu owner of the second house said that all her belongings acquired over 50 years was destroyed by the fire and that she had given everything to the Almighty.
An Official of the Fire Service, Sub-Officer, Alexander Nartey confirmed the story and said the fire tender could not arrive early because people have constructed houses on the demarcated roads so it took the fire tender much longer time to find way to the place.
