Joy News has learnt some workers at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation have sent a 15-point petition to the National Media Commission demanding the reinstatement of former Director-General, Mr William Ampem-Darko.
The Director-General was interdicted in April last year while investigations into allegations of financial malfeasance against him were being conducted but workers of the state broadcaster want him back.
This is the second time workers are demanding his return to the GBC.
The petition outlined successes chalked by Mr. Ampem-Darko to back their demands for his reinstatement.
The group says he was a visionary and that his absence has created a vacuum and left the organization in a state of disarray threatening the future of GBC.
It is unclear what decision the NMC will take in respect of the petition but Mr Ampem Darko is reputed to have had frosty relationship with the board of GBC.
On one occasion, he was directed to proceed on leave by the former board chairman Prof. John Aheto but the NMC said the Chairman did not have the power to ask Mr Ampem-Darko to proceed on leave and consequently revoked the directive.
The Commission on November 24 however asked Mr William Ampem-Darko to proceed on an indefinite leave and also directed the Board Chairman Prof. John Aheto to step aside.
A statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the NMC, Mr. George Sarpong and issued in Accra, said the NMC had observed that there was an "obvious breakdown of mutual trust and confidence between Prof. Aheto and Mr Ampem-Darko" which was negatively affecting the operations of GBC.
