The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has been adjudged the most inspirational public sector institution in Ghana for 2017, alongside four other Ministries.
The 2017 Inspirational Public Sector Leadership Awards (IPSLA) is an initiative of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education instituted in 2010.
The awards followed the release of 2017 IMANI's Annual Public Sector Performance Report which placed the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Communications, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Food and Agriculture Ministry and the Ministry of Finance as the five most inspirational institutions in Ghana.
At the Awards and Dinner Ceremony held at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, IMANI Awards Scheme listed 45 Ministries, Departments and Agencies as those that had matched up to the five main pillars: Engagement, Transparency, Social Inclusion, Innovation and Management Effectiveness between the period of October 2016- October 2017.
Meanwhile, five other organizations: the Ministry of Justice & Attorney General, the National Youth Authority, Public Utility Regulatory Commission, the National Media Commission and the National Sports Authority fell at the bottom.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources was one of two public institutions that were specially acknowledged for being the most transparent in 2017.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, recognised for being the most socially inclusive public institution.

Otiko Afisah Djaba
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba received the Award together with her Chief Director, Kwesi Armoh-Himpson and the Director of Department of Gender, Dr. Comfort Asare on behalf of the Ministry. In her acceptance remarks, Otiko Afisah Djaba commended Management and Staff of the Ministry for their dedication which won them the award.
She said the Ministry under her watch will continue to work diligently to ensure the successful execution of its mandate to the benefit of the marginalized in the society.
She said that the recognition by IMANI which is one of the most respected policy think tanks in Africa meant that her Ministry was doing something very right, and would still do more for the good people of Ghana.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has been effective in implementing most of its social protection and children and women centred policies.
The Ministry recently launched the Operation Get off the Streets for Better Life, the Helpline of Hope Call Centre to receive complaints from victims of abuses, launched the HeForShe in Ghana to promote gender equality and also engaging stakeholders on ending FGM, Child Marriage, Human trafficking and Domestic Violence among others.
