New Black Stars goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey has told JOY Sports he is eager to help Ghana win the 2012 Nations Cup and qualify the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Norway born shot stopper was untested last Friday when he made his debut against Swaziland in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but he pulled three magnificent saves to ensure Brazil won Monday night’s friendly international by just a lone goal.
Despite his impressive showing, the 23-year-old is playing down talks of his heroics after two appearances with the Black Stars.
He told JOY Sports' Nathaniel Attoh, “I am just playing the game, just being myself and just doing the job. I have great defenders in front of me, so it makes the job easier for me.”
He added that, “I have a lot to learn from Richard Kingston, you know he is a legend in Ghana football, so just to play with him and be on the same team with him is a great experience for me and that will also change me as a goalkeeper because he’s been through a lot so I have a lot to learn from him.”
Kwarasey, who plays for Norwegian top flight side Stromsgodset, is gradually justifying himself as an heir apparent to veteran Richard Kingson ahead of next year’s Nations Cup finals and the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
