Ghana has officially launched the much-anticipated FESTAC Africa Festival 2025.
The historic Pan-African celebration is expected to bring together thousands from across the continent and the Diaspora.
The launch, held at the iconic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, unveiled a week-long festival scheduled from September 21 to 27, 2025.
It is under the theme: “Harnessing Health, Culture, Trade, Climate Change, Gender Equity, and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
Organisers say the event will not only showcase Africa’s culture and creativity but also drive economic and social transformation.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, in remarks delivered by Deputy CEO Gilbert Aggrey, described the festival as a “Pan-African renaissance.”
“It marks a bold statement to the world that Africa’s culture, creativity, and commerce are thriving, interconnected, and ready to power our shared future,” she said.

The festival will feature conferences, exhibitions, sports tournaments, film screenings, health campaigns, cultural performances, fashion shows, culinary experiences, and a youth summit.
The Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency, Kofi Okyere-Darko, underscored the transformative ambition of the festival.

KOD urged Africans and the Diaspora to seize the opportunity to be part of a Pan-African legacy.
Chairman of FESTAC Africa Festival, Yinka Abioye, highlighted the festival’s significance, calling it “a rallying point and a legacy.”

“This is where culture meets commerce, where tradition meets innovation, and where Africa meets the world,” he said.

FESTAC Africa CEO, Grace Mumo, stressed that the festival would strengthen ties between Africa and its Diaspora, while urging entrepreneurs, artists, and policymakers to showcase Africa’s resilience and potential.
As the countdown begins, organisers say Accra will transform into a hub of trade, culture, and creativity during the celebrations.

With an expected attendance of heads of state, business leaders, creatives, cultural icons, and thousands of visitors, FESTAC Africa Festival 2025 is set to be a landmark event in the continent’s cultural and economic journey.
