The late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has achieved a sweeping resurgence on Apple Music Ghana's Top Songs chart, capturing multiple top positions just days after his passing, a powerful tribute from a grieving nation.
According to official Apple Music Ghana chart data, “Makra Mo” holds the No. 1 spot, affirming his music’s renewed emotional resonance in a time of collective mourning.
His classic hits continue their climb: “Ankwanoma” is at No. 5, “Sika” is at No. 6, “Se Sumye Kasa A” sits at No. 13, “Mpempem Do Me” is at No. 15, “Mensei Da Harry (Remix)” ranks at No. 17, and “Bribi Gyegye Wo” is at No. 18.

Collectively, 30 of his songs now feature in the Top 100, proving the sheer scale of the public’s emotional response.
This is according to data from the streaming platform on Monday, July 28.

This chart also confirmed that there are 22 of his projects currently charting on Apple Music Ghana’s Top Albums list.
This is a record for simultaneous entries by any Ghanaian artist.
A legend goes home
Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, died in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

In an official statement issued by the family through their legal representatives, Baba Jamal & Associates, they described Daddy Lumba as more than just a musician.
He was a cultural icon whose voice and lyrics left a deep imprint on Ghana’s soul, the statement said.
“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives.
