The Chairman of the Leukaemia Project Foundation, HRM Chief Alhassan Andani, has called for urgent investment in Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure, revealing that about $10 million is needed to establish a world-class leukaemia treatment centre in the country.
Chief Andani made the appeal on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, December 15, following a JoyNews report titled “Leukaemia: Last Chance Abroad,” which highlighted the tragic story of a child who battled leukaemia for four years before recently passing away.
According to him, the proposed facility would require significant investment in infrastructure, equipment and specialised systems to meet international standards.

“We have gone through everything, the structures, equipment and anything up to about $10 million is what we are estimating to bring it to a global standard,” he said.
Chief Andani stressed that the establishment of such a centre would significantly improve access to critical care for children and other patients battling leukaemia, while reducing the financial and emotional burden on families forced to seek treatment abroad.
He noted that investing in specialised cancer care locally would be a major step toward strengthening Ghana’s health system and improving survival outcomes for patients with leukaemia.
