The government of Ghana has signed an agreement with its Togolese counterpart to provide water to that country.
The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, ET Mensah signed the deal on behalf of Ghana at Sogakope in the Volta Region Thursday morning.
President Mills committed Ghana to the deal during his recent one-day official visit to Togo.
The Water Purchase Agreement with the Togo Water Company will enable that country get water from Sogakope through transition lines to the capital Lome.
Joy News reporter Francis Abban, who witnessed the signing ceremony in Sogakope, said that the agreement would see Ghana export between 40,000-70,000 gallons of water everyday to Lome.
The Sogakope Treatment Plant water transmission lines to Lome, would pass through coastal communities like Adidome, Agbozume, Klikor, and a host of others that will also receive potable water as a result of the agreement.
