The Graduate School of Governance and Leadership of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has redesigned its programmes with effect from the next academic year (2013/2014).
The programmes are: Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Development Management (MDM), Executive Master of Governance and Leadership (EMGL) and Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA).
A statement issued by the office of the Dean said students pursuing the MPA and MDM programmes could specialise in several areas, including International Development, Development Finance, International Relations, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Sector Governance, Human Resource Management, Rural Enterprise Development, Public Policy Analysis and Educational Sector Management.
It said the new programmes would develop a new crop of “policy leaders who are equipped with skills in policy formulation, co-ordination, analysis and implementation towards addressing the complex issues in our country”.
According to the statement, the minimum requirement for admission is a good first degree, specifying that those applying for admission to Executive programmes must have at least four years of related work experience.
Programmes are delivered during the day, in the evening or in four three-week modular sessions.
The MDM may also be completed in one year (12 consecutive months).
