Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has been presented with the prestigious Suma Adinkra Sword, a historic symbol of excellence awarded by the Suma Traditional Council in recognition of outstanding leadership and national service.
Presenting the honour, the Paramount Chief of the Suma Traditional Area, Odeneho Dr Affram Brempong III, praised Mr Gyamfi’s leadership and the transformative contributions GoldBod has made under his stewardship.
“Your work at the Ghana Gold Board has brought pride to our nation,” Odeneho Dr Affram Brempong III said.

“This sword is reserved for leaders whose impact is felt beyond their institutions.”
In his remarks, Sammy Gyamfi dedicated the award to the entire GoldBod team, describing the recognition as a reflection of their collective commitment to strengthening Ghana’s gold sector.

“I receive this honour on behalf of my hardworking team at GoldBod,” he said.
“We will continue to give our best for Ghana.”
The Suma Adinkra Sword is one of the oldest symbols of honour in Ghana, with a 470-year history of being awarded to exceptional national leaders.

Past recipients include former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and John Dramani Mahama, underscoring the significance of the recognition bestowed on the GoldBod CEO.

The ceremony marks another milestone for GoldBod and for Ghana’s mining governance sector, celebrating a renewed commitment to excellence, integrity and national progress.
