Government on Friday procured some 50,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from the Indian government.
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Sugandh Rajaram made the presentation to Foreign Affairs Minister nominee, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and Health Minister-designate, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, who on received the vaccines at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on behalf of government.

Government since the spike in Covid-19 recorded cases has taken immediate steps to procure a significant number of vaccines to assist Ghana in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Friday's procurement follows some 600,000 AstraZeneca vaccines the country procured under the COVAX Facility.

Mrs Ayorkor Botchwey expressed gratitude to the Indian government for the "kind and timely donation."
She further stated that the donation marks the mutual commitment of the two governments to "work in solidarity and partnership to address common challenges," that is the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister-designate gave the assurance that government is giving its best possible and leaving no stone unturned to acquire at least 20 million vaccines for the total population.
"Indeed, we are resolute in our determination and will utilize both bilateral and multilateral arrangements to attain this objective. I will thus encourage friends and partners of Ghana to continue rallying support for Government’s efforts," she said.
Meanwhile, Health Minister-designate Agyeman-Manu is urging all citizens to continue to stay safe and follow the Covid-19 protocols "as we fight this pandemic together."
