Government is committed to ensuring equitable distribution of State resources to alleviate the plight of the people, especially those in the rural areas, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Information has said.
The Mills' Administration, he said, sees the well-being of the masses as very crucial to sustaining the nation's progress and would therefore not discriminate against any region or district.
Mr Ablakwa underscored the need for the citizenry to support development programmes and projects as well as initiatives of government to achieve its set goals.
He was speaking at the launch of the 10th anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem, Omanhene of Tepa, at a ceremony at the Omanhene's palace at Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District.
The five-month celebration is on the theme: "10 years of quality leadership - Promoting the welfare of the people".
The Deputy Minister congratulated the Omanhene on his 10-year leadership, saying the chief had made progress for the benefit of his people in the areas of education, health and socio-economic development.
"Nana Atwenewaa Ampem is a man, who wants to see development, and thus tries all that he could to initiate projects on his own without necessarily waiting on the government for support", he noted.
Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, gave the assurance that the Regional Coordinating Council would continue to liaise with the Tepa Traditional Council in promoting the welfare of the people.
Nana Atwenewaa Ampem called on his people to remain united to foster social harmony in the interest of the area.
He indicated that the celebration would be climaxed with a grand durbar of the chiefs and people on November 20 and called on Tepa residents in the Diaspora to participate in the celebration.
