The Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWAC), has urged parents and teachers to unearth and develop the talents of the youth.
Madam Mariama Yayah, Acting Director of the Department of Children, of the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWAC), said this over the weekend, during an excursion organised for about 60 kids of the Olive Quartey Early Childhood Development Centre at East Legon in Accra, to the Tema Harbour.
MOWAC organised the excursion in collaboration with Bluefone Marine, an offshore support services company to expose the children to the operation of ships.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Madam Yayah said it formed part of activities lined up by MOWAC to commemorate the 54th Independence Anniversary.
Madam Yayah urged the children to take their studies seriously so that in future some of them could become marine engineers.
Mr Eric Nyarko, Director of Bluefone Marine, said as part of the company's social responsibility, it collaborated with the Department to give the children an exposure to marine life.
He expressed the hope that such programmes would help unearth and develop the talents of the children.
Ms Ophelia Prah, Head teacher of the school, thanked the two institutions for organising the excursion for the kids.Source: GNA
