Ghana’s number one entertainment station, Hitz FM has launched a new reality show to unearth the next big thing when it comes to playing music.
The reality show – Hottest DJ – launched Thursday will afford aspiring and practising DJs an avenue to exhibit their talents and win attractive prizes.
The competition as part of its core aim, organisers added, will serve as a platform to shape and enhance the craft of contestants who yearn to fill the shoes of some of the biggest names in the industry.
Mark Okraku Mantey, Programmes Coordinator of Hitz FM, speaking on Hitz @ 1 on Hitz FM, said the show will unearth talents who will restore the lost excellence the craft was known for.
“Somewhere along the line, we lost most of,” the renowned DJs. “We are trying to unearth new DJs in the market and because we are an entertainment channel, by default these are some of the things we should be doing.”
“We are launching Hottest DJ which is going to give young people of our time the chance to show what they have got,” Mark, himself a former DJ, added.
He explained that the competition will be open to DJs who are not big brands yet, irrespective of how long they have been actively practising the craft.
Mark Okraku Mantey added that contestants are going to battle on Cruise Control on Hitz FM from Monday, October 26 between 6pm and 6:30pm.
The initial stages of the competition will run for a week and judges will sieve through 40 applicants and select 10 for the next stage.
The 10, he added, will compete in an intense outdoor competition through which one will be selected as winner.
The winner will win an impressive prize package which includes turntables.
