The only effective ways to avoid menstruation are to not be menstruating, or to manipulate your menstruation through use of the contraceptive pill. There are also fixes that help you carry on as if you don't have menstruation.
1. See your health professional. If the contraceptive pill is something that you are old enough to take, you can use this to forgo a period. You simply skip the sugar pill section (reminder or placebo pills) and move immediately on to the next hormone pills and you will not have a period.
It is very important to do this with advice from your health professional. However, many people don't like taking the contraceptive pill for health, religious, or personal reasons, so it isn't always an easy option. If this is the case for you, the next steps might help.
2. Time your plans to avoid a period. This is not a foolproof method but if you have a regular enough period, mark its likely due dates on a calendar. Plan your vacation, sports event, etc. around this.
Remember to treat it with care, however, as an early or late period can be brought on as a result of stress, unbalanced nutrition, mistaken calculations of your cycle, hormonal fluctuations, etc. It's a guesswork guide, not a given.
3. Use tampons instead of sanitary pads. These will permit you to go swimming, to participate in sports, etc., without the worry of leakage or discomfort. You will need to be able to change regularly, however, which can be difficult if you're hiking all day.
4. Try to remain upbeat despite the arrival of a period. This can ease the sense of it being such a burden to you.
On the whole, apart from tiredness or pain slowing you down, you should be able to undertake a myriad of usual activities in spite of your period, especially when you use quality sanitary ware, suitable clothing, and keep up your energy requirements.
