Hundreds of residents of Tema Newton Manhean rendered homeless are appealing to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for relief items.
This is because their homes have been demolished by the Tema Traditional Council.
The residents on Wednesday April 2 were forced to sleep in the open after a demolishing exercise supervised by armed police personnel and Tema Metropolitan Assembly security taskforce left them without homes..
The Tema Traditional Council says it took the action because the residents have encroached on their land.
Joy News' Joseph Opoku Gakpo who visited the area said the demolishing was done while the belongings of the alleged encroachers were still in their buildings.
"Without any information, the bulldozer came around and started demolishing our structures and destroying our properties", one of the now homeless residents told Joseph.
He told Joseph he passed the night close by the rubble with his wife and three children.
Another resident also said he had to pass the night on a bench.
Most of them have also not had their bath since Wednesday because they have no place to wash down.
