The Chief Executive Officer of African Origin Travels and Sports Tourism Samson Deen says he warned former sports minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on his plans of putting up a games village for football fans in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.
Appearing before the Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday Samson Deen whose company was part of the three travel and tour operators tasked to airlift fans to Brazil noted that Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and the planning committee’s plans for the supporters in Brazil was always going to cause problems.
“What I told the Minister was that, although I had not seen the road map to the World Cup but i thought that if the intent was to send supporters we should focus on specifics,” he told the Commission
“Provide services for the supporters in Natal, They should be moved from Natal to Fortaleza and i think they should forget about games village, cooking for supporters and fan parks because we will not be able to provide.
“I gave him (Elvis Afriyie Ankrah) that advice and he can testify to that.”
And counsel for Samson Deen, Lawyer Samson Lardy Ayenini humbly requested the commission to allow him cross examine Project Coordinator of the 2014 World Cup Fred Darko who according to him had told the commission his client didn’t have the capacity for the job assigned him.
Samson Deen, CEO of African Origin Travels and Sports tourism made his second appearance before the commission on Wednesday.
