Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Musheibu Mohammed Alfa has reiterated that he is contesting the Wa Central constituency primary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to redeem the sinking popularity of the party.
‘‘For some time, it is seen by all that the popularity of the party in the constituency was going down and there is the need to salvage that to ensure that the Wa Central parliamentary seat is always in the hands of the NDC.”
Speaking to myjoyonline.com in an exclusive interview shortly after going through vetting in Wa, Dr. Musheibu said he is in the race to change the status quo.
‘‘I am a person they can trust, who will have patience enough to listen to their problems, a person who will make myself so accessible to them such that irrespective of your social standing you will be able to approach me.
“I have no penchant for telling lies and I will be such a person who will talk to them in a manner that they will feel comfortable to bring their problems to me for solutions,’’ the public health specialist added.
Meanwhile, 34 aspirants including three ladies in the Upper West region have been vetted by a committee led by former general secretary of the party, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya.
The NDC won 10 out of 11 parliamentary seats in the Upper West region during the 2012 general election.
