The Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo has said that she will resume her positions as MP and Gender Minister when she returns to the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on JoyNews' The Pulse on Thursday, the Gender Minister said she believes everything will work out to enable her resume duty in due course.

“Since I have not resigned…when I touch down, I am going to do what I have to do as a Minister since I have not been relieved of my post yet,” she said.

She, however, stated that she will only return when her family issues have been well sorted out, adding that “it is not something I can predict and that is not something within my power.”

She also mentioned that she is currently taking care of her unwell son in the United States and has to ensure he recovers fully.

According to her, she will not abandon her duties as a Legislator.

“I will be returning definitely to serve my people. I lead and serve the people of Dome-Kwabenya and I have done that for the past 12 years and I know exactly what my responsibilities are and I am definitely going to do that.

“As you know, my son is unwell and has to transition to school, so I have to ensure that all that is settled before I can resume my duties and that is exactly what I am doing,” she said.

She added that “if I have to take time at this crucial time and I have done, I believe that the reasonable people will understand.”

“I have been on the party’s ticket for the people of Dome-Kwabenya and I have given the highest vote to the party and I am the first woman to lead and I have led and my works and footprints are there for everybody to see, “she explained.

According to her ”whatever everybody is saying, I think that we are in re-organisation mode in the party. People have interests, people have motives, people have things that they want to do, but I don’t want to be at the centre of that and I am concentrating on what I have permission from the President and what I am going to do is exactly what I am doing."

According to the Gender Minister, she only heard of the meeting through her interview on the JoyNews channel.

“I am not aware such a thing has been given to me. I am just hearing it from you. As we speak, I don’t know that I have been invited.

“I have to be served,” she added.

Meanwhile, a Ranking Member on the Committee, Ricketts Kweku Hagan, told JoyNews in an earlier interview, that the Committee has officially written to all three New Patriotic Party MPs referred to them.
