The Northern Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Sule Salifu, is convinced, party faithful deserve preferential treatment when it comes to government jobs.

“I am going to ensure that only NPP people will get job first before any other person”, Mr. Salifu said at the annual delegates’ conference of the Tamale Central Constituency in the Northern Region.

Explaining his reasons, he stated, even though he is a government official his duty to his party is non-negotiable.

“I have a responsibility first of all as party Regional Secretary to satisfy my party people first”, he said.

Addressing the issue of unemployment, the President Nana Akufo-Addo stated on his media encounter: “I do not need to repeat that the greatest challenge we face is the creation of jobs.”

He added, that young people are very anxious about not finding jobs, and their parents are even more anxious about the future of their children after seeing them through school.

The President revealed that the government “has also introduced a number of innovative interim packages to help, particularly, new entrepreneurs”.

He said, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Plan (NEIP) which is an innovative scheme, under the Business Development Ministry, to help startups, and the difficult early stages of setting up businesses, have been launched.”

“I am well aware that the success or otherwise of my administration will be judged largely on job creation,” the President added.

Mr. Salifu said he will do everything to ensure that the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, is firm on the ground so that the wish and manifesto of the NPP be implemented to favour members of the party.

He also raised concerns about charges banks are levying on E-zich cards to beneficiaries of the YEA.

“In some of the banks we have complaints that they take ₵20 to ₵30 from them,” he alleged.

Mr. Salifu stated that the money taken is not uniform as some banks take up to ₵50 from YEA beneficiaries.

He added that initially nothing was taken from anyone and “we don’t know what initiated these collections of money”.

He stated he has directed this Deputy to meet with these banks to find out the reasons why this money is being taken, to help resolve the problem.
