Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas of Ghana will today be installed the first President of the ECOWAS Commission at its inauguration in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso.
Seven commissioners will also be appointed under Dr. Chambas during the inauguration to serve in different capacities of the commission, which replaces the ECOWAS Secretariat.
Presidential spokesperson, Andrew Awuni, in an interview said President J.A. Kufuor will attend the function, which is an extraordinary Summit initially scheduled for December 22, last year, but had to be postponed due to security reasons.
Mr. Anwuni said the summit will discuss, among other things, the annual report of the Commission.
President Kufuor is expected back home on Saturday.
