A man who sold Indian hemp to the Asamankese District Police Commander has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Asamankese Circuit Court.
Munkaila Musah, 35, pleaded guilty to possessing narcotic drug and was convicted according to his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that Deputy Superintendent of Police George Kingsley Adu, who was in mufti, spotted a man on January 01 selling something he suspected to be Indian hemp.
He approached Musah and offered to buy a wrapper and he readily sold it to him.
Mr Adu arrested him and took him to the police station where the wrappers were counted and were found to be 127 and weighed 3,729 grams.
Mr Akrowiah commended Mr Adu and said at a time when drug trafficking was on the increase and posed grave danger to the nation, it required all Ghanaians to unite to fight the menace.
