Several women of different ages in Akweteyman and Nii Boi Town in the Okaikoi North Municipality have been empowered to start their own business and create a decent living for themselves.
They were schooled in various skills training such as soap and detergent making, tie and dye, among others. They will be provided with some financial support to begin their trade with ease.
This was by the kind courtesy of JaneSarf Development Organization, a non-governmental organization which is focused on building the capacity of women through relevant skills training.
Founder of the organization, Bernice Boakye, said “as a team we seek to work in the areas of community development, education & skills training, capacity strengthening and empowerment, among others. We all need skills because a skilled person always remains relevant as we can see in this time of a global pandemic.”
“After so many weeks of interaction with you, all of you have gathered here with willingness and readiness to get trained in soap, disinfectants and antiseptic making, and we are happy to be able to help in these areas to build your capacity”, she explained.
Mrs. Boakye said in line with its mission which is to put love into action and provide hope to the underprivileged in Society, “we clearly know that with love, so many beautiful things are born”
She added that her outfit will continue to foster and promote a community of minimal poverty through opportunities, sustainable and social interventions for the under-privileged to achieve a society where people live in dignity and security.
The training will be extended to other communities in the in the Okaikoi North municipality.
