Journalist Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo has launched the Tumu Community Cup, a football tournament aimed at giving back to his hometown this May.
The competition, supported by Betway Ghana, where Fentuo serves as a long-time ambassador, will feature 16 communities in the 2025 edition. Some of his friends are also joining the effort to make the tournament a success.

The competition will kick off with a playoff stage involving 12 teams, set to battle for six spots in the main tournament. These playoff matches will be held on May 18 and 19, 2025, across six neutral venues in the Sissala East Municipality.
The six playoff winners will then join established sides Real 24 Hours and Soccer Babies in the main event, scheduled for May 24, 2025, at the Tumu AstroTurf (Tumu Stadium).
Soccer Babies and 24 Hours are the winners and runners-up of Zone 3 of the Upper West Division Two League and are currently competing in the Middle League for a place in Division One.

“This is a dream I’ve held for many years,” said Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo. “Growing up in Tumu, we always had the passion and talent, but not the platform. The Tumu Community Cup is about giving back to my roots and using football as a tool to foster unity, development, and social cohesion.”
As part of the initiative, participating teams will receive jerseys, footballs, and solar lamps. In a particularly impactful gesture, one community without electricity will receive a solar charging station, courtesy of Betway.
Fentuo’s other ambassadorial partner, Peeva Beverages, is also supporting the tournament with refreshments and additional resources, further enhancing the community spirit around the event.
