A new police station with officers’ quarters has been constructed for the people of the Millennium City, near Kasoa, in the Central Region.
The Chief Executive Officer of the 21st Century Construction Company, Mr Kofi Asmah, financed the project at a total cost of GHc500,000.
The fully furnished station is to help ensure the security of the people to enable them to go about their duties without fear.
In addition, a new Double Cabin Tata Pick-up, worth about GHc30,000 was donated to the police station to facilitate the movement of personnel.
The Central Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Andoh Koffie, the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, jointly inaugurated the station.
Handing over the building and the vehicle to the police,Mr Asmah expressed appreciation to the Police Administration, especially the Central Regional Police Command, for its immense contribution towards the establishment of the station.
He said the government alone could not solve the acute housing problems confronting the nation hence the intervention of his company to construct the residential facilities and the police station.
DCOP Koffie stressed the need for additional police posts in nearby towns to reduce the crime rate, since Kasoa and its environs had become densely populated.
He assured the residents of the Millennium City Estate that the police would do everything possible to ensure their safety.
He appealed to them to co-operate with the police officers and give them information on any suspicious characters that might be seen in the area.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi commended the 21st Century Construction Company for the kind gesture, and said it would go a long way to help the police personnel to work effectively.
